MCAC Winter Sports Athletes of the Week: Week of January 26-February 1
The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports athletes of the week awards for the week of January 26 - February 1.
Jasia White, forward for Minnesota North College-Mesabi Range, earned the MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. White scored 45 points in her two contests, shooting 45.2% from the field and 46.7% from behind the three-point arc. In 80 minutes on the court, she grabbed 33 rebounds, dished out 7 assists, stole 4 balls, and blocked 2 shots, helping her Norse team pick up 2 more crucial MCAC North Division wins.
Central Lakes College guard Wylee Dauenbaugh earned the MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. In 60 minutes of action, Dauenbaugh went 12 for 24 from the field, scoring 33 points, and shooting 50% from three-point range. He rebounded 8 shots, had 6 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks, to help his Raiders' team tally two more MCAC North Division wins and keep Central Lakes atop the division standings.
Sadie Krahling, guard for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, earned the MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Playing 64 minutes over two games, Krahling shot 50% from the field and 43% from the three-point arc, scoring 41 points for the week. She had 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, and 4 blocks to go along with her 41 points. Krahling also shot 88% from the free-throw line in the Lady Jays' two MCAC South wins.
Riverland Community College forward Joe Poyser earned the MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week award. Poyser shot 92% from the field, making 11 of 12 shots, and scored 26 points in 37 minutes of court time. He had 5 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocks in the team's one contest this week. Poyser led the #3-ranked Blue Devils to an important MCAC South win.
Qilee Jackson, a 197-pound sophomore wrestler at Northland Community and Technical College, earned the MCAC Wrestler of the Week award. Jackson went 4-0, with three major decision victories, to win the 197-pound weight class at the Northland Open on Sunday.
