MCAC Women's Basketball All Division and All Conference

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) women's basketball coaches have selected their 15-member MCAC North and South All-Division teams, MCAC All-Defensive team, division coaches-of-the-year, and division players-of-the-year for the 2023-24 season.  The ten players receiving the most votes in each division were also named to the All-MCAC Team. 

In the North Division, Tiyana Schwinghammer, a sophomore guard from Northland Community and Technical College, was selected as the MCAC North Player-of-the-Year. Schwinghammer started all 24 games for the Pioneers, averaging 15.1 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game this season. She shot 45.6% from the field and 75.4% from the free-throw line, scoring a total of 363 points this season. Schwinghammer assisted on 102 baskets and had 41 blocks and 61 steals, while averaging 28.4 minutes per game. She ranked second in the North Division in field goal percentage and third in points per North Division game. She helped her team win the MCAC North Division title and earn the #3 seed from the North in the NJCAA Region 13B Tournament. The Pioneers will face St. Cloud Technical and Community College on Saturday. 

Shannon Nelson, head coach at Northland Community and Technical College, was named the MCAC North Coach-of-the-Year. Nelson led the Pioneers to a 20-4 overall record this season, and her team went undefeated through MCAC North Division play for the second straight season. During the season, Nelson claimed her 300th career win. Nelson's team won the North Division championship and is currently ranked #3 in the latest NJCAA DIII Women's Basketball rankings. Northland will host the NJCAA Region 13 Tournament, where the Pioneers have the top seed in the 13B bracket. 

Macaya Copeland, point guard for Rochester Community & Technical College, was selected as the MCAC South Player-of-the-Year. The sophomore scored 368 total points, averaging 17.5 points per game and 25.4 points per 40 minutes. She shot 45.4% from the field and 71.4% from the free throw line this season. In her 21 games this season, Copeland rebounded 80 balls and assisted on 69 baskets. Copeland also stole 56 balls. She ranked second in the MCAC South in made field goals and fifth in total points and points per game. The Yellowjackets claimed a share of the MCAC South Division title and finished the regular season 19-4 overall. Copeland's team is currently ranked #1 in the nation, and they will take on Minnesota North College - Itasca in the NJCAA Region 13A Tournament on Saturday.

Rochester Community & Technical College's head women's basketball coach, Jason Bonde, was named the MCAC South Coach-of-the-Year after leading his Yellowjackets team to a share of the MCAC South Division title, a 19-4 overall record, and the NJCAA DIII Women's Basketball #1 ranking. Bonde coached his team to an 8-1 conference record, and the Yellowjackets ranked first in the MCAC South in points per game, field goals made per game, three-pointers made per game, steals per game, and offensive efficiency. They will have the NJCAA Region 13B Tournament's #2 seed.
