Fritz Earns North Division Player of the Week
The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its softball weekly awards for the week of April 24-30.
Marissa Callahan, right-handed pitcher for Central Lakes College, has been named the MCAC North Division Softball Pitcher of the Week. Callahan went 1-0 during the week, pitching a two-hit shutout against MNC-Rainy River. In her seven innings of work, Callahan struck out 10 and did not give up a walk. Amelia Fritz, shortstop for Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range, earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Position Player of the Week award. Fritz was 9 for 14 from the plate with a .643 batting average. She hit 2 doubles, 3 triples, a home run, scoring 9 runs with 8 RBI and stole 4 bases.
Molly Gross, right-handed pitcher for Anoka Ramsey Community College, has earned the MCAC South Division Softball Pitcher of the Week award. In her 15 innings of work, Gross went 3-0, giving up only one earned run while striking out 28 and walking only one. She also went 11 for 19 from the plate with two doubles and two home runs. Teammate and Golden Ram centerfielder, Emma Bright, showed her speed on the bases, stealing 12 of them after going 14 for 23 at the plate. She also hit three doubles, a triple, and three home runs, scoring 13 runs and driving in 9. Bright has been named the MCAC South Division Softball Position Player of the Week.
